The original file for this piece met a tragic end, so when I was told that this piece got into the Society of Illustrators Student Show, all that was left to do was laugh a little.

When saving a small change I’d made, Photoshop crashed and corrupted the original file (can’t believe I didn’t have a backup!!). Thankfully, though, I still had a flattened print-ready version of it (whew).  It was sketched out (for once!) fairly quickly!  The rough:

It simply needed some directional and palette adjustments.

Actually executing the final was a little more painstaking:
